For millennia women have been supporting other women in childbirth, but for a little over a century now, there has been a shift and women have been experiencing less support from other women. As more women have felt isolated during birth and/or had traumatic birth experiences, they don’t feel well equipped to support their daughter/friend/sister in their birth.
I am passionate about helping women become the best support system they can be for their loved one who wants them to be part of their own birth experience. I created this class to help you understand what you need to know about birth and your role as a secondary support person.
Two things to think about: If you are the primary birth partner, I encourage you to attend one of my regular childbirth education classes along with the birthing person. I always recommend respect for the pregnant mom and her wishes first and foremost, to that end, please make sure she has clearly and directly requested you as a support person at her birth.
